Backstage pass

By Claire O’Mahoney   Posted in Byline Fiction

I need a backstage pass
To get behind your scenes
To explore what lights you up
And turns you on.

I need to know what brings
You laughter
What causes you upset
What feels to you
Disaster.

And if I had that pass
There’d be no mystery,
Your life would be
Just that.

So keep your backstage pass
I’ll sit out front
Applaud your ups
And cry at downs
Or just be there.

And yet, that’s not enough.

I want to interact,
Share energy,
I want to be a kind of gravity
That changes you
The way you
Do
Me.
