University of Limerick

Mary Harney, former Tánaiste, has been announced as the new Chancellor of UL. Harney’s position is honorary, and the tenure of her office will last for four years.

Trinity College Dublin

A survey conducted by Trinity’s Students’ Union has revealed that over 80% of student respondents were in favour of repealing the eighth amendment. Lack of 24 hour student spaces also rated highly as a student concern in the survey.

National University of Ireland Galway

Outgoing NUIG President Dr Jim Browne has controversially stated his support for an increase in third level tuition fees that would see students paying up to €6,000, double the fee currently in place.

University College Dublin

Duvet recycling bins have been set up around UCD’s campus residences in a bid to reduce waste as students leave the university at the end of both semesters. The duvets will be donated to animal shelters.
